Dying light and the afterlife

Ocean Hymn is a video poem I created from old footage I took from the last vacation I went on with my parents.  I had a long-distance lens on my camera when my parents stepped into the frame, making them blurred and ephemeral. As I was filming them, I had the overwhelming realization that I would lose them one day. It was almost as if I had somehow filmed them in their afterlife, smiling down on me.

The installation is a life-sized projection from floor to ceiling so viewers can feel like they too are standing on the shore.
